The staff, the tour guides everyone is so hospitable, the planes, the gift shop, the history is just amazing. Restrooms clean, the plane shows, the events for the kiddos and veterans is just over and beyond. We need more places like planes of fame for boys, girls and our future. God bless planes of fame always and forever 🙏 ♥️

Great museum and the airplanes fly, not simply static. You can get close and there are information plaques on a stand explaining each airplane. There are old ones outside awaiting restoration. Down the row of the old airplanes is a book store and a model room across from the library of books. Your can rent a ride in certain airplanes but was told they is a waiting list.

If you love airplanes, you just have to go here. They have a surprisingly large collection of historically interesting planes and a couple dozen of them fly regularly. The oldest one I saw that appeared to be flyable is a Boeing P-26. The place is tidy and well laid out. The docents are friendly and really know their stuff. The admission is a very reasonable $15. Update: I went back a week or so later and discovered a hangar I had somehow missed the first time. This one is set up to look like the hangar deck on an aircraft carrier and had several interesting airplanes. The rarest of them is a Ryan Fireball, an old Navy fighter with both a piston engine and a jet engine. Only 71 were ever built and this is the only remaining one. Also, I saw the museum cat. It was ambling through one of the hangars, clearly keeping watch for mousies that need chasing.

Definitely recommend taking the family. Very educational and fun experience. I felt honored to stand at the Wings of honor wall and reading about some of the recognized combat veterans gave me chills. Definitely walked away with lots of pictures and a sense of pride for our country! Recommend bringing water and comfortable shoes. Big thumbs up 👍

$15 for adults Children up 11 years older $6 Veterans $10 Seniors and AAA members $12
I know they have done weddings - best to call!
Yes, on several planes
Yes , you can walk around them. They are roped off but you are still very close. It is a very good museum.
Nope, any flights are weather permitting. Granted, it could clear up long enough that they could fly.
Yes, although it may not always be on display. They have one that flies around a lot.
Yes. Seniors (65 & older - by the way, I don't know about you, but now that I've reached age 65, it's really getting hard to accept that age 65 is a senior, but I digress) get in for $12.00 - a three dollar discount off general adult admission. Other discounts include AAA members (also $12), Veterans ($10), Groups of 10 or more ($12 for adults, $4 for children 5-11). Kids five and under are always free, as are our active duty military, law enforcement, fire-fighters, with ID. We're open Wednesdays thru Sundays from 10am until 4pm. No advance reservations are necessary. Hope this helps.
The first time we went, we took 4 hours. But we're plane nuts so we asked a lot of questions. Normally, if you just look around, give your self a good 2 hours. There are some hands on displays that are interesting.
Todd, General Admission is $15.00 for adults (age 12 and above). Children (ages 5 thru 11) are $6.00 Ages 4 and under are free. Seniors (65+) plus AAA members = $12.00 Veterans = $10.00 With ID, Active Duty and Reserve Military, Active Law Enforcement, Active Firefighter = Free Groups of 10 or more: Adults = $12.00 Children = $4.00 Now through September 5 all Active Duty Military plus up to four family members admitted free as part of Blue Star Museum program Hope to see you out here at Planes of Fame Air Museum
Jeff, Scott Manning has good information, but just to be safe, you might want to arrive at Planes of Fame when we open at 10am as we've heard it could be anytime between 10am and noon.
Yes. For more information, please visit www.planesoffame.org for all details about visiting the Museum and their extensive collection of over 140 aircraft, including nearly 40 that still fly including some of the rarest flying aircraft in the world.
Picadilly Lilly II Our B-17-G was delivered the day before the war in Europe ended and as such was placed immediately in storage in Texas. Five years later it was converted into a B-17 Drone Controller and served in that capacity, remotely flying target B-17s, for the next nine years. It was retired in 1959 and acquired by the Museum. All of that time, it was without a name. In the 1960s, it was the primary aircraft featured in the television series, "12 O'Clock High" and during that stint, was given the name Picadilly Lilly II (Picadilly Lilly was used in the original theatrical release of "Twelve O'Clock High". Today, our aircraft also bears the name "Kismet" on it's port side in honor of our long time volunteer Wilbur Richardson who flew his 30 missions as a Ball Turret Gunner in the B-17 named Kismet. Wilbur passed away last year. Thanks for the question.
About half of the aircraft at Planes of Fame do fly & most of those are WWII era. The F-86 Sabre & MiG 15 do fly as well as the T-33 & the P-59 Airacomet is being restored. Most of the jet aircraft are static display and are Vietnam era. Airshow will be your best bet to see them fly. There is another museum at the airport called Yanks. The have a good collection of jets including some modern era like the F4 Phantom, F-14 Tomcat, F-18 Hornet & F-16 Falcon. These aircraft don't fly however. Raider Nation for Life!
Thank you for supporting Planes of Fame! That was our WWII veteran F4U Corsair.
You can buy the tickets at the museum
I don't have any answers about this I was a guest in a hanger for a memorial service
There are opportunities for volunteers. That's what I and my sons are doing.
Hello, We had WWII P-47 Thunderbolt Pilot Ed Lopez at our Living History Event on February 2nd 2019. I did not ask him that particular Question. There will be 6 WWII D-Day Veterans and a Dachau Concentration camp Survivor at the Planes of Fame Air Show on May 4-5 2019. If you are able to attend you can ask them yourself in person.
I wouldn't know as a visitor, i don't know that particular history of visitors and that question has nothing to do with the comment regarding Trump and Kim Jong-Un. Do you want a musuem question or are you making a political statement?
I don't believe so, but calling them would be my best suggestion.

Call planes of Fame office for grandstand seats
$11 for general admission, $4 for kids 11 and under, kids 4 and under free. $10 for active duty, veterans, and seniors. $9 for AAA members
Parking is free but in short supply, unless they open up special parking for the air show which I should assume they would charge.
The entrance off of Merrill Dr. If you go stop in at Flo's Cafe there at the airport. It too is off Merrill ave
