We do lots of foreign body removals here. If you think the object may have punctured the globe (a nail, a dart, etc.) then an ER visit makes sense. But if you got a piece of hot metal in your eye from welding or a piece of sand from the beach or a twig hit your eye while gardening then that’s probably something I will treat in office without a referral to an ophthalmologist.
I would go to the E.R.
