How long does the Oakland Animal Shelter hold a dog before they try to adopt it out or put it down?

I don't know how long they keep the animals before adoption. We adopted our dog and he had been there only a week. They were great to work with.

They will never put down an animal that is adoptable (meaning if it's not feral). They will usually be put in foster homes if the shelter is over capacity. Otherwise, they will not be put down.

My boyfriend's dog was half pitbull half black lab. But he was neglected in that he was rarely walked. He was not socialized at all and he sometimes nipped at people. I know he was chipped when he was a puo. I just would really like to know where he is. Thanks
