The safest places to get personal loans are licensed through the State that you live in. If you live in California that would be the Department of Financial Protection & Innovation. You can go to their website and verify a lenders license and see if there are any issues with the company. You can also verify a lender through the NMLS registry. Make sure the lender is a direct lender and not a lead generation website.
