I am no longer able to care for my two cats, lovely friends but of course they can be jerks at times, would I be able to bring them in? Would I be able to trust they would be loved and cared for until they find a better home?

Of course you can, depending on where you live there may be a small fee, but they have very good,dedicated employees and an army of volunteers to make sure all animals have the best life possible while in helping hands care. If you walk in the main lobby it says on the wall "the second best home your pet well ever have" and everyone involved does their best to live that standard every day. If I personally moved away from Topeka and then had to give up my dog I would cone back here to take him to helping hands. I volunteer there when I'm able,I've seen all of the behind the scenes that the general public doesn't, and I can assure you every animal there is well taken care of and has the best possible life a shelter can give them.
