Of course you can, depending on where you live there may be a small fee, but they have very good, dedicated employees and an army of volunteers to make sure all animals have the best life possible while in helping hands care. If you walk in the main lobby it says on the wall "the second best home your pet well ever have" and everyone involved does their best to live that standard every day. If I personally moved away from Topeka and then had to give up my dog I would cone back here to take him to helping hands. I volunteer there when I'm able,I've seen all of the behind the scenes that the general public doesn't, and I can assure you every animal there is well taken care of and has the best possible life a shelter can give them.
I work there as well, you have nothing to worry about, you are doing the right thing. I put my life on it. Every thing Grimm Reaper said I concur.
