There are many different trails to meet whatever distance you would like. We have hiked as little as a mile, or over 5 up there. As you go up the entrance road there are usually maps in a little box on the right (just after the mobilehomes) with marked trails.
If you stay in the area there pretty short, if you climb more east they are a bit longer, if you start at Simpson and head towards Patches trail it's several miles, easy to get lost if you don't know the trails, there many different routes and misleading trails
