Great place but today 3/24/22 I came across a huge rattlesnake called: Panamint Rattlesnake (Crotalus Stephensi) climbing the rocks on “Lichen” aka “Lakeview” hiking path. This was a coiled full grown rock colored (camouflaged) Panamint Rattlesnake and it rattled so loud thru my AirPods; I immediately turned and avoided it! It was a close call so please be careful climbing the rocks this one blended in so well! For now I will stay on the road and you might see a family of deer, bunnies, lizards, squirrels, bobcats, falcons soaring and coyotes! I love this park just be careful March thru August of snakes. Side note: Yesterday 3/31/22 A friend had her car broken into during her walk at about 12 noon they took her purse with all her checks, and bills etc… she was parked outside the entrance gate across from the cameras just FYI she has black tinted windows and a newer vehicle. Hemet police are investigating this so please contact them with any information! Thank you!

I really enjoy hiking the trails at Simpson Park. There are several walking and biking trails to choose from and there usually isn't too many people out there. The views of the Hemet Valley are spectacular and you can even catch a good view of Diamond Valley Lake!

I love to bring my dog up here to walk around the trails and take in the sights over the valley. It’s a little Zen spot sitting up on the biggest boulder, especially on a clear day. My dog got her first look at snow for the first time here in January. The flora and fauna and the rock formations are always fascinating.

There's so many trails that the map doesn't have! It's so beautiful and fun exploring, be careful though, we saw a diamond back a few weeks ago.

It's a great place . Views of diamond lake. You can take many trails climb rocks . Animals are allowed with leash. In the springs and summers be careful because snakes come out. When they come out. They have signs posted. Restrooms good place for whole family. Enjoy
No open fires, so if you have a portable camping stove yes.
Yes it can, from the parking lot there is a wonderful view. Also there's bench areas that have a beautiful view.
I was up there 5 days ago and the gate sign says closed due to fire danger!
Yes
Yes but after a while you can only walk or hike,
Yes you can bring your dog just make sure you clean up after them like any public park.
Probably for another month or so
People still walk and bike the trail
James Simpson. He was mayor 1950 - 1966.
It's more like rolling hills than a mountain top so depends on which "top" the easiest is 2mi if you hike east about 6mi you'll get to Hemet Butte with a gorgeous view of State St & dominigoni St. Check out the All trails app, you can see people's recordings of their hikes with elevation so you can plan your path. Happy trails
Steve? Absolutely!!! U can bring your furry friends with you to Simpson Park!!! Just make sure to carry a water bottle and bowl cuz the park is big & staying hydrated is important for our awesome! dogs:-)
Yes. It's been open last few weeks and now they closed the gates again
There are many different trails to meet whatever distance you would like. We have hiked as little as a mile, or over 5 up there. As you go up the entrance road there are usually maps in a little box on the right (just after the mobilehomes) with marked trails.
Can you take your car up there ?
