Are employees of the animal shelter allowed to "cherry pick" dogs that are up for adoption? We were told that we were 2nd in line for an adoption to an employee. Doesn't seem ethical, as they could be selling them on the side.

I doubt an AC employee would risk losing their job by selling dogs on the side. For the sake of the dogs, I am glad they give their employees first pick. They are usually the best pet parents.

I was talking to an employee once about adoption and the ones I talked to like to adopt the ones that require more TLC. They also don't get animals for free, they have to pay like everyone else.
