I was gonna buy a pitbull and due to them having so many and the how people think about they're dangerous it was only a 5$ adoption fee. It's too encourage people to adopt them. Although if you do, you might have to do a backyard inspection even if you say it's going to be kept inside. Highly recommend you say it'll be kept inside.
It varies sometimes on how long the dog has been there. Sometimes they have specials. Also want to add that it's not the same thing as buying one. Dogs from shelters come fixed, chipped and vaccinated. As opposed to buying one they usually aren't and that costs extra.
I just got one last month it was $142 but mine was a puppy. That included first shots, neutered, micro chip, rabies, follow up for any infection they may have, so I thought that was a great deal!
I paid $75 i think. But if you think about it, going out and buying one is the same thing. Unless you're lucky and find someone giving them out for free
It varies on the dog. So things such as age are a huge variant. I recently adopted a dog and because she was over 5 years old and they had a promo for older dogs I knly paid $30 for a almost 6 year old German Shepherd.
