Hi Diane. The dealership cannot register or insure your vehicle. You will have to do both of those things on your own. You should change over your insurance as soon as you can. As far as registration goes, you should have a temporary plate on your vehicle that is good for 14 days.
You will need to register a new vehicle in your town office or at the DMV. Be prepared because here in Maine you will pay a really expensive registration fee for a new car or newer car. We paid over a thousand dollars the first year and are finally down to just over $800 a year and that is still ridiculously expensive. I won't buy a new car just because of all the additional fees and taxes you have to pay for years down the road. My wife is the one with the new car. I drive a 2005 truck.
