No you don't have make and appointment. But get to the office at least and hour early and you'll probably be first in line. Then take a number and wait. They do take people with appointment first. Or you can sign up on line for you social security.

Just like the DMV, you draw a number and wait. But it is better to come early, like an hour and half before opening. I'd find a book and a hot beverage and stand in line. Good luck.
