Because all cans regardless of where they're purchased have the same barcodes. Returning cans from Washington is fraud although there are no repercussions in place to punish this fraud. Which means that the security is the only means for this company and Oregon to prevent this kind of fraud.
People who have Washington plates but are now Oregon residents can show a piece of mail that has been postmarked within the past 30 days that shows their name and oregon address to security will be allowed to return cans
Yet, people coming from Oregon to Washington to dig through my trash and recycling looking for cans and bottles all the time. They also steal from cars. So I think people to come from Washington to get a couple bucks from turning in some of their cans should even it out a bit.
No. It states right in the Oregon laws that you must be an Oregon resident to return any bottles or cans. Washington residents are not allowed to return any. It is against the law!!
Unfortunately for some of us who have Washington plates but live in Oregon, this method doesn't work. DMV hasn't been open to do title transfer yet. Just saying dah
