The petco in Barboursville does have cats. I do think they go through a local animal shelter for the cats, though. However, they do not have dogs.
The petsmart in Ashland Ky about 15 miles away adopts cats and kittens and even hosts events where AARF brings in rescues in store and does adoption weekends. I don't think Petco in barboursville has dogs or cats they have reptiles, hamsters and sometimes ferrets and rats/feeder mice and of course fish and turtles but I haven't seen dogs or cats there other than customers animals.
The keep a couple of cats on hand at times that are adoptable through either the local animal shelter or a local animal rescue group but Petco as a company does not sell cats and receives no monetary gain from the cats they adopt out.
