There's not one age that is truly appropriate. At Camp North Star we have boys and girls who are between the ages of 7 - 17 years old. And we have new campers starting at all ages. We do have a terrific job of making everyone feel at home and part of the family. There are also 3 divisions of campers, based on age, so we are able to have age appropriate activities for all our campers.
The average age for a first trip to overnight camp is between 7 and 9 years old, Smith said, but it really depends on the child.
