If the visitors are lego fans, or model building types, then any age is fine. They will be in heaven. For the rest, ages 4 to 12 will work, and tolerant parents.
I live near Legoland and had annual passes for several years with my kids. I would say that it's designed for ages 3-12. Most teenagers won't appreciate the park unless they are big fans of Lego. There are no "big" roller coasters that you'd see in a Six Flags, Universal, or Disney park. Don't get me wrong, I love Legoland. But if you or older kids go and expect a large dynamic theme park, you'll be disappointed.
I would agree and my 10 year old son had fun but felt like it was designed for smaller kids
