They took a bottle of coffee that I had with me whilst entering the park. They are very concerned with safety, regardless the size of the bottle, glass represents a risk as it may be used to hurt someone if broken an used as a sharp "tool"... They do sell souvenirs that are made out of glass but something happening with their own merchandise is their direct risk and responsibility, they are aware of this and keep monitoring their stores and have trained staff to respond immediatel. Anything taken in by outsiders would be totally off their control and thus potentially more harmful to us guests and with huge legal consequences...
Hey Janet I'm in agreement it seems over the top, given the gate personnel didn't seen particularly well trained. I think safety of the masses is the concern so they'd rather err on insult than injury. One person missed because of ill treatment is bad but thousands fleeing because of some outbreak means the end of business. The rule is similar to the airport. If you wanted to make an issue of it they might keep it till you exit but depends on the manager on duty and the specifics of your case. Sorry to hear it but... this is the new normal. ☹
IN EVERY SITES WHERE THERE IS AN AGGLOMERATION OF PEOPLE, SAFETY AND RULES TO FOLLOW AS USERS IS DIFFERENT. LEGOLAND IS NOT THE ECEPTION AND FOR ENJOYMENT AND TRANQUILITY ITS SECURITY POLICIES ARE FOR THE BENEFIT OF EACH USER. TO ENJOY IT SAFELY. All theme park have their own policy. They can ask you to throw anything away as long as they have safety concern.
