Hello, Carol - The receipt shows the actual price you were charged not the price the item is normally, so in this case the discounted price. So you if you add $3.90 (total of 10% discount) to $35.07 (total paid), you get $38.97. Then take $3.90 and divide it by $38.97 and you .10 - which shows that you saved 10%. I agree it is confusing and sure would be nice if you could see the regular and the price you paid for each item on the receipt rather than just the total amount you saved.
I did, and they said they would do that. However, when i looked at my receipt later, there was no discount. At the bottom it said Senior Discount Program and below that "you saved $3.90 by shopping at" etc. Where is the discount applied? I don't see it. Total charge to me was $35.07, no discount shows on any of my three purchases and no percentage for sr discount shows.
