Half dead dog still breathing on the side of the road. Who the hell do I call? This is painful to watch. I am sure someone would be coming if it was running without a leash. What do I do? Let this dog suffer because no one is at work?

I've called 911 in the past and they will notify animal control. I know it's hard to see but thank God you saw him and stopped. Most people wouldn't.

Always 911. No matter if the humane society is open or not they will at leadt get animal control out there. Hope all goes well

Tried calling animal control "it was too early" waited for Polk County PD then watched the dog suffer to death and became too angry because it had already been over 45 minutes. Of course, the dog had died and I wasnt going to wait for the police to come any longer because I would probably end up in the backseat for the apathetic responses I barely recieved when trying to get into connect with someone over the phone. It was someones pet so I tried to just rub its head. I am just so sad because no one stopped, the vet said I would be finacially held responsible even if it does not survive. It was just very sad for a Sunday morning watching a 3lb dog suffer. Ive seen my father cry 3x my entire life and today was the 3rd. I wanted to just end its life so it wouldn't suffer but was told that isnt legal.
