Summer is always a great time, although you will get much larger crowds. My wife and I go several times a year and we find the best time is usually in late April or early May. There's not a lot of crowds and the weather is gorgeous. September and early October are also nice.

There is much smaller crowds if you go on a weekday not in the summer. I went on Thursday and got to ride many rides and the lines were barely eney.
We just went last week and the weather was perfect. If you can, go during the week before school is out for summer. Much smaller crowds.
Summer is great. Sometimes they have the summer concerts which just adds more things to see and do. They just had an event in the weekends of April with specialty foods and craft beers. Was a great time to go.
