Coming from out of town and have heard good things about this place. What do the locals/regulars recommend on the menu?

Biscuits and gravy are great. So are the bagels and lox plate.

I am not a local, but ate at Mother's 3 times during my recent trip to Portland. The meatloaf sandwich is amazing; I had a half with and side salad combo. It was pedestrian food, elevated to a new, delicious level. All breakfasts are good; skip the dry toast and have a mouth watering biscuit. Just go!

Honestly, it's all great food. A favorite of mine is the chicken cobb salad! The biscuits are also delicious.

Huge menu all of it good. Chicken and dumplings are to die for it

For brunch the wild salmon hash is fantastic. For dinner... consider the specials, they're always great. On the regular menu, the chicken fried chicken is always good. The matzo ball soup is always fantastic... if it's cold enough out for soup of course.

The Schnitzel is a must. Matzo Ball soup. Breakfast my favorite, Eggs Benedict, her hollandaise sauce is to die for.
