I am very sorry that happened to you. They have transitioned alot recently, and just recently reopened after a fire happened about a year ago. I would suggest calling them and explaining the situation.

I'm the volunteer coordinator at CSC, and we don't have an online application process, so it sounds like you may have been in touch with one of the partner agencies who also operate on CSC's site. I would suggest following up directly with them about your concerns.
