Just curious~ Does the weather ever get too rough that bridge crossing is suspended until the bad weather passes? Also, does it ever get too dangerous that cargo ships and other traffic have to anchor on either side until conditions improve?

No, the bridge is extremely safe under most weather conditions,of course all bridges will shut down if there is catastrophic weather coming, as far as ships and boats the coast guard keeps an eye out for ocean conditions and tides so to answer that question you should contact noaa or the coast guard if you want to enter the ocean or the river.
