It's a stupid regulation... Anyone can just say thier animal is a service animal and your not aloud to question it. I lost a really good job for questioning a lady about hers who I knew, and also knew the dog was not a support animal, it was her mom's dog who she was watching while her mom was out of town.
To be clear, there is NOT a registration process for service animals. The Americans with Disabilities Act plainly states that any municipality that requires such is in violation of Federal law. Any organization claiming to register service animals is a scam. In regard the McDonald's, it's a really filthy location in general and I'm not surprised they let some idiot bring a pet inside.
I actually called the corporate number and reported it .. people are so lax now a days...
This is because people don't want to argue the difference between service animals and emotional support animals. Service animals have to be registered and 98%ish are dogs. An emotional support animal can be any animal. Regulations state only service animals are allowed in business that server food. I would recommend taking photos and reporting the restaurant to the local health inspector as this is a major health violation.
