You can call the company that sent the debt to them, and pay directly to them. Once you do that, they will notify Renton Collections that you paid off the principal balance. If after this you still have a balance with Renton Collections, it’s most likely going to be due to them charging you interest, which is illegal. A collection agency cannot charge any interest on top of the original debt amount. It’s against the law. You can then dispute this amount with the credit bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian) By saying that this debt is invalid. They will have 30 days to prove to you that it is valid, and if they can’t prove it, the credit bureau will delete it off your credit report for them. :)
