If it's 17th at midnight, so it's technically is the 18th. So yes I think that would be fine. Because that is her birthday. If it's the may 10th, and it's 8:05pm. And 12:pm it is now the 11th, and if the 11th is her birthday then she's 18 technically. So she could get in. Unless I'm not understanding the question.
