Yes, this experience is family friendly. There was a 10 year old boy and mother in the class I went to and the instructor took special care of the youngster. It was a great experience for all!
We had a five year old in our class with his parents. He had a lot of help from instructor, but he did complete the project.
Definitely family friendly. Groups too! 8 or 10 might be the youngest I would go
