Why does this Walmart ask for receipts when someone doesn't use self checkout? I can understand the self checkout receipts to an extent as they don't trust their customers to not steal, can I refuse if I don't like being assumed a thief?

Joe king if u ever worked at a retail store in last 10 years you would know that even old ladies steal. My younger brother used to steal things at Walmart and have the mother of his friend take them back cause no one questioned. At that time she could get cash. 🙀🙀

Mistakes are made people sometimes forget to pay for items left on the bottom of the cart and if a high dollar item is on your cart they will check for that.With the loss that this Walmart experiences I'm surprised they don't do body cavity searches, thank you lord

It just makes everything easy for everyone

I have asked the managers to show me where the rules state that everyone be searched and wouldn't ya know they said it wasn't a rule and so I never show them my receipt I'm always in a hurry and I'm on camera so I'm not even worried about it. Just say no if you simply don't have time or think they are singling you out, you don't even have to have a reason because it's not a store policy or rule in any way at any of the Walmarts

As a passed associate if Walmart it is done normally if you have stuff un bagged and/ or something on the bottom of the basket. Also to make sure that the cashier's are checking in things like totes and trash cans, but under basket. Yes if your un a hurry and they want to see your receipt and you put in you pocket book or wallet it's a big pain. Just know they are not picking on you, they are doing what corporate tells them.

I believe they don't trust anyone

It's easier to just check everyone than picking and choosing who to check. You are not being assumed to be a theif. Plus the guy at the door doesn't know where you checked out at. They especially check if you have any unbagged merch. No need to be an @$$.
