I had to go through chemo therapy 14 years ago. Do I qualify to give blood?

According to the Red Cross, any blood-related cancer (leukemia, lymphoma for example) is always disqualifying. Other cancers treated and cured over 1 year ago with no recurrence would permit you to donate. They are good people there at FW. Please do donate!

There are questions on the questionaire, that you answer before every donation about that. One of those , asks have you ever had cancer? The other, asks about transfusions, though I believe it says transfusion during the past year. Since I've never had cancer, I don't know if your battle, 14 years ago, would exclude you. I'd call for an appt. to donate, and ask the question of the scheduler. Hope this helps.
