They buy books they can sell. They're a business, not a social service. The selection is very good and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable.
They are specific but I wouldn't classify them as, "picky." If you have quality books that are in demand, they're likely to purchase 'em. Ask yoirself, "Would I buy these books? Do I think the general book buying public would be interested in them?" If the answer is, "No," then probably just put them in a free library or donate them. Also, regardless of what they purchase, you're offered a 10% coupon for a purchase of a book at Third Place on the same visit for bringing in books to sell.
Depends on what they have in stock and what they have space for. I'm always surprised by what they end up taking.
I thought they were pretty picky. Their buying hours on listed on their website, but it's pretty flexible and first come first served.
