It would probably be best not to voice your political opinions if you don't want to talk about politics. If you want an environment that is free of controversies, just keep it to yourself. Unfortunately, guns are inherently polictical objects because their existence is a subject of debate. If you tell someone that you disagree with something like a type of firearm that they should or shouldn't be able to own, they may just be obliged to disagree with you. It is really really easy to go and use the range and the store without having any kind of political discussion with anyone. All you have to do is not say something that is politically charged in any way.
When I was there, we didn't talk about politics at all... but I guess that would depend on who's working and how chatty they are, we just talked about guns etc...
