I'm looking for info about the USS Providence CLG 6 My Dad worked there in the Ship yards for many years . We thought the Providence was in the Mothball fleet for a while in the late 70s and early 80s can you verify this with the dates . TY

USS Providence (CLG 6) was sold for scrap to National Steel Corp.,Terminal Island, CA on July 15 1980. Most likely, the ship was stored at the Moth Ball Fleet at Suisun Bay, California or San Diego after her decommissioning on August 31st 1973, since she was home ported In San Diego during her last years.
