We are coming next week to new Mexico, staying in Las cruces. We are looking for beautiful gems and granite rocks. Is there certain areas or hiking trails to take? We were going near Deming and also up route 15 in the Gilas. Thanks for any advice.

For cool granite monolithic rocks, Story Rocks nearby is better than Rockhound. For gems, neither is really good.

Could you tell me where story rocks would be located, when I search it city of rocks shows up. Been there, don't think that's it.
