You can get a special driver's license m. It's cheaper than a passport but a passport provides the ultimatum in ID validation. Customs is the ultimate arbiter. If you are going through commercial customs (driving a semi or delivering a vehicle then you need a manifest from the company you are delivering for. There is also a crossing fee.
