It really depends on what you're going to do while there. Want to do a day hike? Spring & Autumn are probably better than deep summer. Camping would be great from late Spring straight on through late Fall. Want just a day trip with kids? Any time is fine. Pick up some Wal-Mart fishing rods and pack a picnic lunch. No matter when you visit, make sure you have lots of water and don't forget to pack in the basics if you'll be hiking... first-aid kit, whistle, sun hat, emergency blanket, a couple of power bars, and lots of water.
Fall and spring. Winter can get surprisingly cold and summer extremely hot
