Some of the animals do enjoy the rain while others prefer to hide inside. Last time it rained the hyena was much more active, Athena the florida panther enjoyed the light rain, the honey badger enjoyed it for a while and many of the monkeys and lemurs seem to enjoy it. The gators of course dont care and continue to do what they do. Until it starts getting heavy, most animals enjoy the cooler weather the rain brings. If it does start to become a heavy storm with lightning however the zoo will close for safety reasons.
There are shelter points to wait out lightning. It started downpouring while we were there. The animals were in their shelters lounging.
Sometimes, rain checks are given when it rains.
It did rain while we were there but it was toward closing time and therefore close to feeding time so a lot of the animals were pacing near there enclosure doors waiting to be fed

They close down if it's lightning.
