Organizers of the picnic had not made reservations and possibly would have secured a better place if they had. wlWorking in the parks department of another city I knew even in a park where there are always tables, and usually the ones under the gazebo, it is possible to reserve a spot, and possible that despite you getting to a spot at the crack of dawn, you will be kicked out if another group has it reserved. So in this case it is best to check with the City of Fresno.

We were not early, took our own shade pop up, got a great spot. Watch for bees on the lawn. 1 child got stung.
