We stayed in Gilmore, LOVED it! They post the sites that are available for 1 night but best to check things out at the registration office. Also you can reserve sites from 9 months out but be quick they fill up fast!
Reserve America is best place for reserving. Park is very popular and during camping season very hard to find empty places. The park is very popular with local people as well as travelers from out of state. Ward loop is the only place that isn’t on the reserve America site. However, it is limited to fully contained units and has no amenities like power and camp fire rings. There are no tents and no camp fires allowed in this area. You do have to come in the visitor center and check in.
I was under the impression that they had to have 10% open day of for walk ins. Which doesnt leave much available to choose from.
If they're not taken, you need to check in at the station when you first arrive at the park.
