I bought 15 chicks from Hoovers hatchery this spring. they started out good but now that they're older they are not as big as they should be and are not laying eggs even though they're 21 weeks old. has anyone else had these problems?

Hi Benjamin, The amount of weeks it takes a chicken to maturity varies between breeds. Our heritage breeds can take longer than a typical hybrid or sex-link chicken to reach maturity. However most chickens take around 22-23 weeks. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to give us a call!

It takes 6 months before they start laying eggs and are full grown. Their feed must contain calcium. Free range is best. If you have rats, they can eat all the eggs too. Lots of variables.
