Whoever said you won't find shells over one inch is wrong. Lots of conch shells wash up or are about ankle to knee deep in the water. Much of the beach is compacted shells and sand. It's much quieter than main clearwater beach and is well known as the locals spot to avoid the very congested main clearwater beach area. Sand key is great.
As someone said, the brach itself is white sand. Though the closer you get to the waterbyoull gind its mostly small shells.
closer to the water there's a lot of shells, but the rest of the beach is soft sand
Sugar sand with turquoise water...there are shells present of course.
