Could your 9 load capacity machines handle a large area rug?

Yes

While the 9 load machine is big enough and can handle an area rug it's harder to say how your specific rug will wash. We've had some come through just fine and others completely ruined. It really depends on the make and quality of the rug. If you are partial to your rug I would say don't chance it , just in case it doesn't come out well.
