Wood fires are allowed in the predestignated fire pits only. You have to bring your own firewood and your own water to extinguish it. Water is not available anywhere inside Joshua Tree. We brought a propane burning fire pit(Outland living fire bowl) and you can set those up anywhere because you just turn it off when done. I am surprised how much I have enjoyed the fire bowl as I have always preferred wood fire before.

All campsites have fire rings to burn wood. Check the NPS site for current fire restrictions.
