If I have a vehicle loan and pay 200.00 more on each monthly note of 900.00 for a year for example, would that put me ahead to where I could skip a note and not be in any kind of default?

Paying more than contract amount is your choice, not payment obligation. You are required to pay contract amount monthly. To skip a note best to contact lender and allow them to set up a skip amount to avoid late payment on your credit rating. If not computer system will flag you as deliquent payment late 30 days. My laymen opinion.
