We are the owners, Yes you can dig for crystals. But you cannot go down into the pit, this is Federal Law for safety, Our own employees have to go to classes ever year for safety, no matter long they have been with us. Even Years So what we do is bring up to the top many many piles for you to dig threw, there are hundreds of pile on top. They are NOT Tailings, we have not gone threw the piles. we many happy customers. You need to understand that in Arkansas all mines are open pit mines, not caves. and no mine owners are allowed by law to let the public down into the pits. We do hope you will come and have a good time, give it a try. you can't beat it for $10.00 a day thank you very much. Jim & Terri Coleman

We had an amazing time! Found many great specimens and some optical quality points in the piles right by the parking lot...talk to Bill up at the mine, and he will point you to the freshest piles!

You dig through the tailings they bring up you can find some nice crystals if you what to look for don't dig by shale look for red clay and piles that have a lot of quartz in them

You dig for crystals. They dig by machinery until they hit a nice saple and then they dig by hand. You get to dig through the tailings, the dirt and rocks that they are fairly certain does not contain really big crystals. You will not be in a cave. You will not be allowed in the mine. But don't worry! You WILL find quartz. Mostly small stuff, occasionally some nicer pieces. Definitely worth the price in my book. Please note that the area that you get to access is in the sun and can get hot. There is no water or food for sale on site so bring your own provisons, a bucket and a digging spade.

Yes you get to dig, but not I the mine (for safety purposes). My family has a great time and found some nice crystals.
