If you cut through the back of the parking lot, the quarry is probably a half mile. If you take the trails around to the more popular quarry entrance it's probably a mile-ish. Not a large or sandy beach, but plenty of people were swimming the day we went. You can walk in from the shore if you don't want to jump.
The walk to the quarry is about 10 minutes from where you park. There isn't a beach. No sand. People can swim by the boat launch but they have to jump off rocks from the old boat mooring station into very deep water. The quarry and finding fossils is amazing though! And the water is absolutely beautiful to look at!
