We were there 12/29 from 10:00 until 2:30. The first two hours were the drive through part. Temp got to 78. 75-85 might be best. All of the animals were active except the lions. They were out but all sound asleep. We saw staff occasionally dropping hay or feed. Hippos and zebras were the most active. The non -driving park part was the most relaxed. Birds there were active but mostly focused on what they thought we would drop and they could eat. Handlers were giving some splendid talks, especially about flamingos.
My family always goes to the park first and saves the drive thru for last. It helps us wind down. We usually arrive when the park opens to get ahead of any crowds. I do not believe you will be disappointed with Lion Country.
Mid day is the hottest so animals hide. What you want to know is that the drive is free to do as many times as you want and at closing all animals head to their sleeping areas, you'll see them all if you're doing the drive. Don't go during the summer, way too hot for everyone and park is full of kifs on field trips.
I got there at 2pm on 12/31. It was about 70 degrees, all the animals were active. Had time to go grab a bite to eat, feed giraffes and go to gift shop. Perfect timing imo.
The best time would be to go in the morning because it is not as hot, and the best temperature is 60-low 70s
When it's first opened. That way there is not alot of traffic, to get around.
Best time is to get there when park opens so it is not too hot to enjoy the animals and attractions. the safari drive can take 2 hours easily
You want to avoid times between 12-2pm in my opinion, mostly due to it being the hottest point in the day. And its best to go on a weekday, as weekends are often very busy and its hard to enjoy when you're being pushed through by other people. Best weather would be 72-82f, otherwise the animals seem to be inactive due to the cold/heat and humidity.
