It is not only open for lunch and dinner as stated below, but also for breakfast. When we dined in, there was no less than 20 phone calls, so the line was probably busy when you tried. It took me 4 times to get thru, but was certainly worth the wait!
The restaurant isn't open all day; just lunch and dinner. You do have to sign up in advance for them to prepare enough food. If you haven't had any problems with your phone while in Door County; I have no answer as to why you couldn't get through. I wouldn't call before 1 pm.
We made our reservations a day before with no problems, maybe is just one of those days...!
We called and made a reservation for the next day.
