You can, yes, but the reality is that contamination is everywhere and eating off of your own silverware isn't going to change much with microscopic airborne particles, so you may as well just use the restaurant's in my opinion. I'm a retired RMA in internal medicine and I am in cancer treatment currently and I eat out at least 5 times a week on restaurant silverware and I've never been sick yet & I'm immune compromised. Just trying to bring you some comfort about using restaurant silverware. If you're extra afraid, I'd suggest maybe rethinking going out to eat.
