Hi! I am the historian for Cerro Gordo. The town is in the Inyo Mountains between Death Valley and The Sierra Nevadas at 8,500 feet. We have a beautiful view of the Sierras from our vantage point. Nearest real town is Lone Pine off of highway 395.
Thank you. I was wondering because when I was a kid, I was camping around the June Lake loop and visited a ghost town with a lot of similarities and was wondering if this is the one.
Nearby, about 25 miles east of Olancha or Lone Pine. Cerro Gordo is in a different mountain range across the valley, but a relatively easy drive from Highway 395. 395 is parallel to and on the east side of the Sierras.
