You can easily get hooked on fishing at Congaree National Park. Bass, catfish, bream, crappie and others can be caught in Cedar Creek or in oxbow lakes. On the Congaree river striped bass are available. All of the park creeks and lakes are open, for fishing with a South Carolina State License, except for Weston Lake. Weston Lake was closed for fishing becuase of safety concerns. Fishermen may carry tackle on the Sims trail to access Cedar Creek and Wise lake. No fishing equipment is allowed to be transported on the boardwalk.
