Metal detecting is totally allowed. Its the digging that would be an issue. There are over 28 miles of trails and they are are all now groomed for skiing. Foot print holes are make for poor grooming. Be careful in that regard. However, in the spring there may be quite a few finds from the busy winter season. For additional information the outdoor center could offer places to visit that may be of interest to you.
Visitor center can answer that.
